Thrips infestation are very massive in crops if once occurred in the field the whole crop may destroyed if not controlled on time. 

How to find thrips :- 

Thrips are tiny, long and slim, sap sucking.

Having wings, a pair antennae. 

Occurs due to simultaneously changing in weather.

Same crop pattern for a long time.

Several crop in a same field.

Insufficient nutrient management.

host- Chilli,capsicum, tomato,brinjal mango, grapes etc. 

LIFE CYCLE :- 

Female thrips Lays eggs on the leaf or lower side of the leaf or in the buds or flower. 

Eggs are very small can't seen by nacked eyes. 

Egg life span 5 to 10 days => 1st instar larvae life span 5 to 10 days => 2nd instar life span 5 to 10 days => pre paupae => pupae => adult thrips. 

Larvae of thrips sucks swaps of crop. 

CONTROL :- 

We use integrated pest management for best result of controlling thrips. 

CULTURAL CONTROL :-

Use crop rotation. 

Make field implanted for long time so that thrips can't get foods and then die. 

Good and proper nutrients management is required so that no any disease harm our crops. 

If possible, use mulching peppers. 

Sticky traps must be placed in the crop field. 


BIOLOGICAL CONTROL :- 

Use of friend insects( predators and parasitoid) for pest control(thrips, aphids, mealybugs, whiteflies,etc. 

Use bacteria for pest control such as Beauveria Bassiana. 

CHEMICAL CONTROL :- 

Use of chemicals for thrips control. 

Chemical are are only used if infestation becomes very high. 

Use of chemicals such as :- 

  1. Acephate 95% sg
  2. Acetamiprid 20% sp
  3. Buprofezin 25% sc
  4. Carbofuran 0.3% sc
  5. Diafenthiuron 47.80% sc
  6. Diafenthiuron 50% wp
  7. Fipronil 0.5% sc
  8. Fipronil 80% wg
  9. Broflanilide 300g/l sc
  10. Broflanilide 20% sc
  11. Carbosulfan 25% ec
  12. Carbosulfan 25% ds
  13. Clothianidin 50% wdg
  14. Cyantraniliprole 10.26% od
  15. Cypermethrin 25% ec
  16. Deltamethrin 11% w/wec
  17. Dimethoate 30% ec

Spraying time :- 

6 AM to 10 AM and 4 PM to 6 PM
